Driving is related to many responsibilities like taking care of your fellow passengers, your own life and your car. There are top 10 things for every driver, and every driver should know it is never too late to learn:

Know how to change a flat tire. Knowing how to change your own flat tire means you do not have to based on that sketchy stranger to help you out or wait an hour for an auto club. This is a skill that everyone on the road should know; if you don’t think you can figure out it out by yourself, get a friend to help you- before you blow a tire and really need it.

Know when to Stop. If your ‘check engine’ light pops on, you can usually wait until you arrive to your destination to stop and check out the situation.

Know when NOT to Stop. Think of your safety first. If someone bumps your fender in an isolated stretch of highway, do not pull over to the shoulder but rather motion for them to follow you to a well-lit, public place. Never isolate yourself on the side of an empty road with a stranger, even a cop.

Know driving limits. Some people can drive all day long and not get tired, while others are done after four hours in the car. Don’t plan a trip that you have to drive ten hours a day if you know you can’t handle it.

Know AAA’s Phone Number: 1 (800) AAA-2336. Even if you are not a paid member, if you call them in the case of a breakdown or keys locked inside, they will enroll you and come to your rescue.

Know NOT to text while driving. As tempting as it may be, just say no to texting and fiddling with your phone while driving. Besides the fact that it is illegal in many states, texting while driving is more dangerous than drunk driving. Just say no.

Know car maintenance needs. Cars routinely need their oil changed, filters traded out, tires switched and alignment checked. Taking care of your car will help it to last longer and it is also better for the environment, as oil leaks often end up in the ocean or streams by way of gutters.

Know how to check their tire pressure. With a simple gauge you can keep tabs on your tire pressure, but first you have to know what pressure reading is ideal, and this is usually listed in the owner’s manual. If it is too low, add air at a service station for free. Don’t over inflate, and try to check your pressure when your tires are cold- not after driving all day long.

Know to stay alert and stay alive. Drowsy driving is also a very dangerous proposition. While driving a long distance, as soon as you feel your eyelids closing, pull over at the next gas station and take a short 20-30 minute power nap.

Know how to jump start their car. Carrying jumper cables in the trunk is always a good idea, even if you have a new car and battery.

Keeping auto parts in a good condition is very important. Here at topgearautoparts, you can find the high quality auto parts at cheap prices:

A 1.0-liter Ford Focus might seem to be not very attractive on paper, but once you realize that it arrives in 98-bhp guise with a 5-speed manual and 123 bhp with a 6-speed linked to it, then the picture changes to some degree.
Understanding that it’s a 3-cylinder might take the glimmer off it as well, particularly since Ford hasn’t bothered to set up a balancer shaft to iron out the 3-potter’s odd frequencies.

But you’d be wrong on all matters. This is a treasure of an engine. Because of cleverly tuned engine mounts and a flywheel and front pulley that are perfectly out of balance to counteract those unwanted vibrations, it runs as smoothly as any 4- or 6-cylinder unit. Besides, once you get past 2000 rpm, it pulls powerfully and willingly especially around the 3500 mark where the transient overboost offers a 30-second overboost that sees torque climb from 125 to 148 lbs.-ft.

A further plus point is its long-legged motorway cruising with under 2500 rpm on the tacho in 6th gear and, I think, heavy loads might blunt its willingness to perform, but as the gearbox is a joy to use that’s no hardship.

The ride is as fluent as you’d expect any Focus to be and the steering, due to the engine taking 66 lb. off the nose, is even sharper and more agile under passionate cornering than before – also followed by electric power steering uniquely tuned for this application.

A study by NHTSA looked at crash data from 2005-2007–before tire-pressure monitoring systems were required to be installed on all cars. The systems mandated for the 2008 model year alert drivers if any tire drops 25% or more below the recommended inflation level of your car. Tire pressure monitoring systems are created to alert a driver of a tire losing air pressure and are not intended to be used as an alternative for monthly tire pressure checks.

The study also found that five percent of all vehicles studied experienced tire problems immediately before a crash, with 66 percent of those representing passenger vehicles, 17% being SUVs, and the rest being pickups and vans. Half of the tire-related crashes involved a single car, and just 31%of single vehicle crashes were not associated with tires.

This shows that tire problems are evident in the pre-crash phase, which has a very small window for attempting a crash avoidance maneuver. Rollovers are more common among SUVs that experienced a tire problem before a crash–45 percent rolled over. On the other hand, passenger cars, pickups, and vans experiencing tire problems had fewer than a 25 percent incidence of rollover. Overall, the study concluded that tire problems in the pre-crash phase were more likely to lead in rollover in SUVs than other types of vehicles.

Tire problems combined with other factors, such as bad weather or an inexperienced driver, can increase the likelihood of a crash.

Aside from properly inflating your tires, it is very important to monitor your tire tread depth condition. This study showed that tire-related crashes were more likely as your tire’s tread wears, with accident rates at just 2.4 percent when tires had near full tread depth to 26 percent when the tires were worn- out. We recommend consumers start shopping for new tires at 4/32″ tread depth while some all-weather grip is still available. At this point tire-related crashes approached 8 percent.

A 2009 NHTSA analysis found that 57 % of vehicles with tire-pressure monitoring systems had tires that were properly inflated.

The study reiterates the need for motorists to properly maintain tires. Buying a tire pressure gauge and regularly checking your pressure can help avoid these tire problems and the increase risk of a related crash.

Ten Things You Must know about the Lamborghini Aventador J:

1. There is only one… no really – we’re not kidding. Lamborghini only produced one unit of the Aventador J and it’s the same unit that we saw at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.

2. What does the J stand for Jota . Jota is a very special badge to Lamborghini. The brand uses the name when it’s doing something totally crazy and totally extreme. Back in the 1970s, Lambo created the one-off Miura Jota as a powerful prototype for future Miuras. Jota also found its way into a special-edition Diablo SE30 as a conversion kit that made the ‘base’ model even more extreme. At the time only 15 Diablo SE30 Jotas were built/converted.

3. Don’t call it a concept – it’s a fully working bull that defies all kinds of extremes.

4. How did the idea come about? Insiders say that CEO Stephan Winkelmann asked his team of designers and engineers to do something special for Geneva. The car was drawn up in one weekend and put together in just 6 weeks.

5. Power for the Aventador J comes form the same 6.5 liter V12 unit found in the Aventador LP700-4 making 691-hp.

6. Lambo was available to keep the dry weight of the Aventador J down to 3,465 lbs.

7. Top speed to come in at 186 mph – which is limited since the Aventador J always has its top down.

8. The Lamborghini Aventador J brought the brand a lot of ‘unneeded’ exposure with over 21.5 million searches on Google.

9. How was it sold and to who? While Lamborghini wouldn’t disclose who purchased the car, story goes that Winkelmann knows the brand’s best customers on a personal level.

10. How much? $2.8 million. So just imagine being able to part with $2.8 million in just one minute when Lambos CEO calls you up and goes ‘Hey we built something kind of cool… you want it?’

Do you love this supercar? Do you want to buy high quality car parts to update it further? Then come to carpart4u.com.

There is already a lot of buzz surrounding Ferrari’s approaching Enzo successor, the Ferrari F70, and here to increase a little more pleasure are some attractively rendered images of what this Maranello masterpiece might look like when it releases.
Before we really get into it, though, here is what we know so far: First, we know Ferrari was recently on hand at the Beijing Motor Show showing off its latest HY-KERS hybrid system. This monstrous V12 is set to feature in the Ferrari F70 and offer enhanced levels of performance a standard engine system could not. Second, we know that the F70 will feature lithium-ion batteries supplied by South Korean electronics giant Samsung, and become the first hybrid ever to come out of Maranello. Third, the F70 will utilize “advanced F1 technology” much the way the Enzo did with its liberal usage of carbon fiber, active aerodynamics, and traction control. And finally, we know it’s probably going to be all sorts of awesome.
As for the renders you see – sadly they aren’t real or official. But they do come by way of industrial designer — and current employee of Italian styling house Pininfarina’s German subsidiary in Rüsselsheim — Constantin-Gabriel Radu.

Considering Radu’s work is simply a design exercise and nothing more, we can’t really speak to any performance related aspects. From an overall aesthetic perspective, though, we appreciate the uncomplicated curvature of his faux Ferrari F70 and find it more appetizing to our automotive palette than what’s found on the current Enzo. In fact, it’s no secret that our (and many others’) main gripe with the Enzo has always been its rather unattractive appearance. To be fair, the Enzo was always meant to act as an ultra-performance vehicle, not light up the racetrack with its stunning good looks.

True as that was, is, and always will be, Radu’s take on the Ferrari F70 manages to instill a visually impressive design reminiscent in some ways of the 458 Italia, while managing a nod and glance here and there to its predecessor in the process. This is especially evident when looking at rear design’s two-by two cylindrical tail lights. However, Radu’s work, while good, seems unfinished. Particularly when glancing over the models flat hood, which is devoid of any real aerodynamic shaping. And considering the Ferrari F70 will be one suped’ up hunk of metal and carbon fiber — estimates place the combined output of its 12 cylinder engine and electric motor above 900 horsepower — it’s going to need a lot more cooling vents than what’s currently displayed.

Today, we will introduce you a special car parts for your cool car. As we know, after a long day’s driving, a sauna is the ideal way to relax and take away the strain on the muscles – which is the reason why one Russian chose to create a rolling hot box he can take with him wherever he goes.

Embedded in Russian tradition, saunas sit alongside vodka as the staple means of keeping warm in the sub-zero winters most typically experienced by the inhabitants of this giant nation.

The majority are permanent structures with giant fires feeding individual wooden cabins, but on a snowy lay-by next to the main road into Moscow we came across a rather more mobile one, built neatly into the back of a 1976 Zil army truck. This is a very different type of truck stop.

Parked in a forested outcrop, the solid green metal machine sat atop the snow on large tundra tires, hiding its dark military history under a fresh new look with a giant side sticker depicting the wooden slats of a traditional sauna and a telltale rough steel opening that emitted a flickering glow.

Since the truck chugged its way out of Moscow, this onboard fire has been slowly building up the heat inside, puffing smoke from the twee little chimney in its roof. Beckoned over by a man wearing a heavyweight winter jacket topped with a bizarre beige Tyrolean-style hat, we were ushered to a door where another gentleman with significantly fewer clothes and an altogether steamier look welcomed us in.

But while it may have seemed like we were in a bizarre slapstick comedy sketch, this was a very serious piece of physical conditioning, Russian style.

Inside, there was very strict protocol. First came the initial sweating to get the body acclimatized to the heat. Once boiled to within an inch of our lives, we then cooled down in the sauna-truck’s ‘chill out room’ before braving the heat once more.

Then came the oak branches. Bunched and brandished by Nikolai, the sauna’s owner, creator and operator, we were beaten with these to boost circulation. With the sauna’s coals repeatedly watered and bunched leaves wafting the fast-soaring heat through the tiny space by the fire, we were soon cooked to perfection.

We thought we were done, but Nikolai had other plans. With a yell of “Russia extreme!” he urged us to the sauna door and out into the frozen snow beyond, where he proceeded to cover us in snow. And as we finally slipped back into our vehicles’ soft leather racing seats to continue our journey, the whip-lashed sores began to soften. They don’t do things by halves, these Russians.

The New Hampshire Motor Speedway typically echoes with the screech and whine of NASCAR events, but things were a bit quieter this weekend as student-built hybrids and EVs and took over the track for the sixth annual Formula Hybrid competition.

Taking top honors in the hybrid class this year were both Brigham Young University of Utah and Université de Sherbrooke in Quebec. The two teams had remarkably similar scores which were too close for judges to call, so the first place finish was shared. Last year, BYU took second place overall and won the endurance event. We’ve included some video of BYU’s acceleration trial and the Canadian team’s autocross run.

This year, 36 teams from all over the world taken part in the event, which was started by Dartmouth’s Thayer School of Engineering back in 2006. The competition itself is dependant on the Formula SAE program – other than with a focus on energy conservation and electric propulsion. The 2012 competition was the largest so far with schools from Taiwan, Brazil and India in attendance. It’s a big jump from 2007, when only six teams competed.

Students have a year to build their vehicles and can retrofit one they’ve already entered in Formula SAE. They can also reuse a chassis over multiple years, but must abide by a strict set of rules. The majority of teams in competition have existing student motorsports programs, and have competed in other speed and endurance events.

Typically, the spotlight of the race is the endurance event, where teams are provided only 5,555 watt hours of energy to complete a 13.67 mile race. In comparison, that’s about how much electricity a space heater consumes in less than four hours. Furthermore, cars must compete in acceleration trials and in an autocross event. Teams are also judged on marketing and design.

Due to the abundance of interest in the Juke-R, Nissan stated it will build its mash-up of a GT-R and a Juke for a select few customers, including noted car collector Salah Salahuddin from Dubai.

Nissan finally gave in to enthusiasts on Thursday and announced the imminent sale of the more-than-one-off Juke-R crossover. The company also released a short film starring the car and GT Academy winner Lucas Ordóñez.

“With such a strong reaction, and with three genuine offers on the table, we decided we had to make the car a reality,” said Gareth Dunsmore, marketing product manager for the Juke. “We can’t let down enthusiasts who are this keen to add to their collection of cars. The Juke-R has become something of a phenomenon, and I’m enormously proud of the impact it has had. There will be more news to come on Juke later in the year.”

The Juke-R was built with the guts of a 2010 Nissan GT-R, sporting 483 hp. The coming models will be based on the new GT-R, with a bump in output to a mind-blowing 545 hp.

Official pricing hasn’t been announced yet, but Nissan says locals in the United Arab Emirates were making six-figure offers after the race.

On the same day of the announcement—almost as if Nissan planned it—the company debuted its short film about the Juke-R-supercar race. It’s a little cheesy, but it does tell the story of how the dream race happened.

If you’re an electric vehicle lover, and occur to dig all those tricked out rides from companies like West Coast Customs, then you’re most likely pretty bummed by the fact that most electric cars don’t get the same aftermarket love like their gasoline-guzzling cousins. Yeah, Justin Bieber had his god-awful chromed out Karma, but now there is something much sophisticated.

Fisker Karma White Knight

Offering a worthy option to the standard extended-range plug-in hybrid, the White Knight Fisker Karma is a perfect beacon of style class, and just enough flair from the team over at SR Auto Group.

As you can see from the photos, SR has taken the Fisker Karma and upgrated it with a sharp white paint job that happens to suit a set of custom white wheels.

Up top, the White Knight Karma attributes a blacked-out solar roof and tinted windows — excellent for keeping the paparazzi away from your slick ride.

As an alternative for the Karma’s standard 22-inch wheels, SR has placed a set of PUR 2WO 22’that the crew “machined down to their raw aluminum core and sealed with a clear coating.” The inserts of the tailored Karma received some styling attention too, and are color-matched with the exterior styling to help create an overall enhanced look that will certainly turn heads.
